Personal Donor Stories

Since giving a donation to Wycliffe, my wife and I have been blessed far more than we would have expected. We have received a number of letters from the recipients of our gift, thanking us and describing how it affected their ministry. Receiving those letters made us realize that we are part of what Wycliffe is doing: bringing the Word to the lost in every corner of the world. Knowing that the Word is alive and has an effect on everyone who reads it, we are very excited to be involved in this ministry. What a great blessing to see that the Lord has used us to further His kingdom!

Our family foundation is committed to giving to Christian agencies that steward resources effectively for maximum possible impact -- both now and for eternity. I have had the opportunity to visit Wycliffe teams in Colombia and the Philippines, and have been amazed at the dedication and singleminded focus each team has. They present the Gospel to isolated communities around the world, in a way that is relevant to them in their culture and language. Often this takes years, but my experience with Wycliffe is that they stick to the job until it is done.

We have donated to both Wycliffe and The Canada Institute of Linguistics (Wycliffe's Linguistic Training Facility in Canada) because we know how much it means to those who give their lives to the work of Bible Translation. Marilyn and I spent two years as Short Term Assistants in Papua New Guinea in 1984 and 1985. We experienced first hand the love of God through the generosity of people at home who gave to the ministry of Bible Translation.

God has been so very good to us since our return from PNG by blessing our family and providing us with a successful business enterprise.

We feel very privileged to give back some of what we have been blessed with so that others can go and bring the Word of God to every people, language and nation. God does really bless both the gift and the giver.
